Malibu Open Lacanau Recap

The Waterski Pro Tour season continued this past weekend with another tour stop at the Malibu Open in Lacanau, France. After three days of skiing our top skiers were: Nate Smith and Jaimee Bull.

The slalom competition was fierce with the top men's scores all getting deep into 41off (10.25m). Nate Smith ran the pass twice this weekend and won with a score of 1@43off (9.75), making him the first competitor this season to reach the record pass twice in the same tournament. In the women's division, Jaimee Bull and Whitney McClintock-Rini battled back and forth all for the lead weekend, each skiing into 41off (10.25m) in the final two rounds. Bull was a model of consistency all weekend, getting to the pass in all three rounds, posting the best score if the weekend to win with 1.50@41off.

The Malibu Open is a special tournament that showcased some amazing amateur skiing as well as the pros. Our spotlight skier of the weekend is Marie-Lou Moulanier. Moulanier is an overall skier from France who has been battling back from a knee injury and won the women's amateur division. Her final score of the weekend was 1@38off (11.25m).

Going into our next tour stop, our season slalom leaders are: Nate Smith (210pts), Freddie Winter (179pts), Will Asher (113pts) for the men.
